Incumbent serves as a Social Science Program Coordinator - Employee Whole Health Coordinator and will have full responsibility for administering all aspects of the local initiative to support the health and well-being of employees. This involves assembling and coordinating activities of a diverse planning team of health professionals and representatives from various services who will assist in planning, implementing educational opportunities, well-being activities, and programs for employees.
Duties
The Employee Whole Health Coordinator has the ultimate responsibility for planning and implementation of the local employee well-being program based on national guidance provided by the national Employee Whole Health program office. The expectation is that the Employee Whole Health Coordinator will address overall well-being issues for employees throughout the medical center and outlying areas including but not limited to nutrition, mental, emotional, social, physical, and environmental well-being based on Whole Health (WH) principles and the WH system of care.
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Assembling a diverse planning team of interdisciplinary health professionals and representatives from various services within the medical center including labor partners.
Working with the committees to develop a charter, goals, and strategic plans for the Employee Whole Health program, and ensures the plans are updated annually.
Conducting needs assessment(s) of employees to determine program needs and interests. Developing core program components based on assessment results.
Developing and delivering classes, seminars, workshops, etc. on various Employee Whole Health topics including but not limited to nutrition, physical activity, and mental health topics or works to identify and collaborates with relevant subject matter experts.
Developing training materials for staff educational needs.
Implementing use of available individual health assessments to determine employee well-being strengths and opportunities (i.e., Personal Health Inventory (PHI), Healthy Living Assessment (HLA)), and tracks employee improvement and goal attainment as appropriate.
Modeling healthy behavior and provides support and encouragement to employees as it relates to behavior change.
Promoting the Employee Whole Health program to all employees on all shifts throughout the medical center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
Writing proposals for annual funding opportunities as made available by the national Employee Whole Health program office.
Maintaining and updating local policies and procedures related to Employee Whole Health.
Managing program budget and is the fund control point official for the Employee Whole Health program.
Responsible for the purchase of a variety of products, materials, and goods used in the promotion and administration of Employee Whole Health activities.
Promoting the model of whole health for Employees, including increasing opportunities to engage in self-care activities
Educates leaders in well-being culture and behaviors which can support a culture of well-being
Performs other duties as assigned.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, .
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Basic Requirements
Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of appropriate experience in a position that demonstrates I have the acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR
Education Requirement: Successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher, with a major study in behavioral science, social science, or related disciplines appropriate to this position. The number of semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified by the college or university attended. If this number cannot be obtained, 24 semester hours will be considered as equivalent to a major field of study.

OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that included courses equivalent to a major in behavioral or social science or a subject-matter field appropriate to this position, plus appropriate experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4-year course of study described above. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform work in this occupation.

GS-11
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: assembling and coordinating the activities of a diverse planning team of health professionals and representatives; assisting the coordinator in planning and implementing educational opportunities, wellness activities, and programs for employees; collaborating with other services on the assessment of the health needs of employees; developing and delivering classes, seminars, workshops; implementing use of available individual health assessments to determine employee wellness strengths and opportunities; creating a personalized health plan (PHP) with employees; writing proposals for annual funding opportunities; maintaining and updating local policies and procedures; managing program budget and is the fund control point official; working with Fiscal Service, Compliance, Logistics, and approving officials to ensure prop r purchasing selection and procedures.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have three (3) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond graduate level education (beyond the first 2 years) and specialized experience as described above to meet total experience requirements. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do to the work of this position.

Physical Requirements:
While some of the work is sedentary including researching, writing, program planning and data analysis, the position will have periods of extensive walking and movement throughout the healthcare system, prolonged standing, and transporting light to medium weight objects.
