Duties

Passes on instructions and starts work by assigning immediate tasks Demonstrates proper methods and works alongside the team as a pace-setter Checks in-progress work and obtains information/decisions when problems arise Tests, analyzes, repairs, reprograms and reconstructs a wide variety of highly complicated electronic equipment Installs new automated materials handling systems Accomplishes component repairs and modifications down to the microchip level

  • This position is located at DM-XWS and this announcement may be used to fill future vacancies for various shifts located at DLA Distribution Susquehanna in New Cumberland, PA.
  • Must maintain a body weight not in excess of 300 pounds due to aisle crane operation.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain licenses and/or certifications required by the installation, federal, state, and local laws.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is: Ability to Lead: I instruct other workers on less complex work methods; refer to manuals as a means in answering questions related to the duties and responsibilities of the position; and adhere to all safety standards. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Physical Effort: Work requires standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping and sitting for extended periods of time working in cramped and/or awkward positions. Lifts items weighing from 15 to 50 pounds and carries for short distances. Must maintain a body weight not in excess of 300 pounds due to aisle crane operation.

Working Conditions: Work is performed under shop conditions in an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated warehouse. Subject to loud noises, heat, cold, fumes, dirt, grease and the possibility of cuts, bruises, and injury when using tools and testing equipment. There is the hazard of electrical shock and burns from high voltage currents. Incumbent may be required to work outdoors.
