This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Director of Operational Logistics, Base Miami Beach, Procurement and Contracting, in Miami, FL.
Duties
As a Purchasing Agent you will support Base Miami and all Areas of Responsibility (AOR) field units, and adhere to Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) for the acquisition of supplies and services and construction. You will become familiar with and execute purchases through the Federal Supply Schedules, other agencies’ contracts and CG contracts, as appropriate.

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-08 level applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
Responsible for all aspects of the contracting and purchasing transactions for supplies; computer, electronics and telecommunications equipment; marine supplies, equipment, and engineering hardware; medical supplies, support services, technical and maintenance services and construction.
To qualify at the GS-09 level applicants must have at least one full year of experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
Responsible for all aspects of the contracting and purchasing transactions for supplies; computer, electronics and telecommunications equipment; marine supplies, equipment, and engineering hardware; medical supplies, support services, technical and maintenance services and construction. The incumbent is delegated a Contracting Officer's warrant for supplies up to $100K, services up to $100K and construction up to $30K. Evaluate incoming procurement requests, review, research and prepare contracting documents and be responsible for final decisions whether or not a proposed action is legal for acquisition. Perform full range of post award functions on all contracts issued.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
