The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive exhibit and media planning and project coordination.
Duties
Designs museum exhibits, including development of three-dimensional, graphic, lighting, and other visual and special elements, using both PC and Macintosh computers and software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Vectorworks.
Proposes original designs, concepts or visual styles for exhibits, signage, environmental graphics, publications, and presentation materials and prepares design drawings, including detailed construction, layout, and special effect diagrams and material specifications.
Fabricates (builds), installs, and maintains exhibit components including gallery structures, case structures, specialist artifact mounts, interactive exhibits, and other special effects components.
Designs, produces, and installs theme-based interactive multimedia programs for exhibits for use on a variety of platforms, including PC, MAC, tablet, media player, and smart phone, using a variety of software, including Adobe Creative Cloud.
Ensures that the concepts and principles of Universal Design are incorporated in all exhibits and multimedia design projects to be in compliance with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) exhibit and Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) guidelines and to allow visitors to access information in compliance with Section 508 electronic and information technology standards.

To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes: providing project coordination related to design restoration, rehabilitation, preservation, construction, and evaluation for exhibit projects that impact historic materials, objects, resources, and facilities, which include: developing and reviewing exhibit projects; developing, designing and reviewing exhibit materials, designs, and plans; performing project coordination and contract administration; and inspecting and investigating construction and conservation treatments. . You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in museum work or an applicable subject-matter field. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.
