This position is located in Service Center Operations Directorate, Vermont Service Center. As an Staff Assistant, you will oversee the management and administrative operations of the office by performing a full range of administrative research and analytical duties.

Duties

Supports the service center Director, Deputy Director and Chief of Staff on all administrative matters associated with programs and operations owned or managed by the Director, Deputy Director and Chief of Staff. Develops and advises on local administrative requirements or inquiries for the office, and actively participates in developing and implementing local administrative policies, guidelines and processes. Manages all calendaring of events, preparation of materials including agendas, correspondence and memorandums, facilitates the center’s visiting officials and arranges all associated logistics Arranges for the preparation of briefing materials, talking points, LER materials and executive summaries. Works closely with staff to track projects and to ensure implementation dates are met. Ensures that correspondence is consistent with policies and position on complex matters. Facilitates timely and complete responses to inquiries from high level sources or significant interest groups.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/06/2023. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/06/2023. GS-12: You qualify at the GS-05 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Managing projects, tasks, and action items, keeping managers informed of critical developments; Establishing criteria to measure or predict the effectiveness of a program or organizational goals; Providing comprehensive reports identifying administrative or operational issues and presenting the data to management; Applying and adapting analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency of program operations.
