You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the 59300, Cyber Defense (CD) Infrastructure Supt competency of NAVWARSYSCEN ATLANTIC CHARLESTON SC.
Duties
You will apply knowledge of the use of common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup, arp) and how to interpret the information results.
You will configure and utilize software-based computer protection tools (e.g., software firewalls, anti-virus software, anti-spyware).
You will apply knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods (e.g., data storage, software applications, and networking) .
You will configure and utilize network protection components (e.g., firewalls, HBSS, Virtual Private Networks [VPNs], network Intrusion Detection Systems [IDSs]).
You will provide technical security documentation such as investigation reports, risk assessments, and security plans/procedures.
You will run vulnerability assessment tools and evaluates the results for compliance with Federal and DoD Cyber Security requirements.
You will provide systems integration guidance and technical support as they relate to the application of IA products
Requirements

- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 521 level Advanced/Master within 12 months of appointment.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing Computer Network Defense (CND) infrastructure support to projects to include Cyber Defense design, installation, assessment/audit, system hardening, and risk mitigation. Qualifying experience may include: performing system-level, software-level, and data-level risk analysis; documenting the IA requirements and policies relating to network and computer systems; providing guidance on current computer security requirements, best practices, and information system/network hardening techniques.
Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.

3. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Promoting awareness of security issues and ensuring sound security principles are reflected in organizations' visions and goals.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Assessing security events to determine impact and implementing corrective actions.
