The Laundry Leader performs leader duties for approximately 60% of the time; and works as a Laundry Machine Operator and Laundry Worker for the remaining 40% of the time.

Duties

As the Laundry Leader, the incumbent's duties include, but are not limited to: Ensure all incoming laundry is weighed and recorded, and laundry receipts follow the laundry bag through each step. Make routine decisions and answer employees' questions regarding work procedures and machine operations. Pass work instructions from supervisor to employee. Assign immediate tasks to assure work is started and properly completed. Demonstrate proper techniques and safe practices to laundry employees. Check work in progress to ensure production needs are being met and proper procedures are being applied. Operate all laundry equipment, i.e. commercial washers, dryers, spreader-feeder, and folders. Lead and instruct employees on the proper use of equipment and linen handling methods. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Incumbent must stand and/or walk continuously on hard surface floors. Incumbent is continually bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling when performing duties. Incumbent frequently lifts linens weighing in excess of 50 pounds and push linen carts in excess of 400 pounds. Working Conditions: Incumbent is exposed to disagreeable odors and possibly infectious organisms from soiled linens. Incumbent may be subjected to minor cuts, burns and bruises from carts and equipment. Incumbent is expose to noise, vibration, dust, lint and hot, humid conditions. Incumbent must be able to work with patients, patient/members, work study employees, summer aid employees, or other persons assigned through various training programs.
