About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command (Theater), 21st Signal Brigade, 302nd Signal Battalion, duty station Fort Detrick.

Duties

Serves as Security Specialist for 302D Signal Battalion, responsible for multiple security programs. Responsible for Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection, Intelligence, Counter-Intelligence, and liaison with the Provost Marshall Office. Coordinates clearance of all battalion personnel for retention and/or access to restricted/classified information, material, or work sites. Establishes and maintains Battalion Information Systems Security Program (ISSP). Serves as Information Security Program manager. Serves as the Unit Force Protection Officer.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Temporary Duty Travel(TDY) may be required 5% or less of the time
• This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. OR A Ph.D or equivalent Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as International Relations, Foreign Area Studies, Political Science, Geography, Foreign Affairs, International Law, History, Economics, Demography, Engineering, Law, Sociology, Psychology, Military Science, Cartography, Social or Cultural Anthropology, and/or Physical or Chemical Science.
