Two (2) positions may be filled located in Yellowstone National Park, in the Maintenance Division.
These positions are Career-Seasonal and the selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. The expected non-pay time will be from mid-September to mid-October but can be variable during due to project requirements or weather conditions.
Duties
Performs the duties of Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic.
Performs routine maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, vehicles, and boats.
Trouble shooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of heavy equipment, vehicles, and boats.
Ability to use diagnostic equipment and programs.
Perform safety inspections of equipment, vehicles, and boats.
Complete work orders (documenting time, materials and nature of repairs), and order parts.
This position will be located within the Maintenance Division in Yellowstone National Park. Elevation at Mammoth is 6,200 feet. Temperatures vary from an average of 70 degrees Fahrenheit in summer to sub-zero at times in winter. A school is available, with kindergarten through 12, in Gardiner, Montana, five miles north of headquarters. Free bus transportation is provided for school children between Mammoth and Gardiner. Many community facilities such as stores, a drugstore, day care, motels, and restaurants are available in Gardiner. A medical clinic is available in Mammoth. All other services are available within 55 to 75 miles from Mammoth. Housing is not available for this position. Housing may be available through the Yellowstone National Park bid process.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to independently do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic (SCREEN OUT)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc.
Teamwork
Vehicle Maintenance
