You will serve as a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST in the Special Staff, Legal Support Section of MARINE CORPS BASE.
Duties
You will interpret immigration laws and explains their application to others.
You will complete the N-400 (Application for Naturalization) and related forms and processes of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) and the Department of Defense concerning the naturalization of military service members.
You will be required to process of a variety of visas to obtain lawful entry into the United States.
You will be required to obtain legal permanent resident status based on marriage to (or qualified relative of) a U.S. citizen, service member, or deceased service member.
You will use Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, and office automated case management system(s).
You will be required to provide status options for persons who entered the United States unlawfully or who entered lawfully but whose lawful presence has expired.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
- This position requires the ability to cope with often emotional clientele.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Interpret legal decisions through a practical knowledge of body/systems of laws, regulations and legal precede; managing a legal office through a practical understanding of office function to include docketing, electronic, manual filing, and document preparation; conduct legal research through computer search engines for analysis of issues of fact and law in order to draft a brief of findings; and provide oral and written communication to clients, legal counsel, federal and/or state agencies, and officers of the court.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on equivalent combination of education and experience, as follows:
- I have successfully completed master's or equivalent graduate degree or
- I have successfully completed 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or

- I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
