Duties

Some of the duties you will perform include, but are not limited to: Manages programs or projects related to aquatic resources of the park. Conducts investigations, studies, or experiments related to aquatic resources of the park. Provides oversight, input, or interpretation of laws, rules, regulations, or policies related to aqutic resources. Manages or collaborates with stakeholders. Lake Mead National Recreation Area, America's largest reservoir, was created by the construction of the Hoover Dam. With more than 750 miles of shoreline, you can enjoy a day at the beach, take a boat out and disappear for hours or nestle into a cove to try to catch a big one. Located in the western part of Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Boulder Bay stretches more than a mile along the shoreline of the Boulder Basin of Lake Mead. Boulder Beach has access to many recreation opportunities. Boulder Beach, Special Events Beach, Canoe/Kayak Beach, and PWC Beach are 1-2 miles away where you can kayak and jet ski. To explore the park on land, the River Mountains Loop Trail passes right by the campground. This paved trail is more than 30 miles long and leads to the Historic Railroad Trail. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by 11:59 PM EST when the 'applicant cut-off' is reached (which may be sooner than -10/10/2023). Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position, you must meet BOTH the Basic Requirement and one of the Minimum Qualification Requirements as listed below. BASIC REQUIREMENT - You must meet the following basic requirement: EDUCATION: Successfully completed a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biology, or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours must have included at least 9 semester hours in ecology, AND 12 semester hours in physical and mathematical sciences. You must include transcripts. -AND- MINIMUM QUALIFICATION - In addition to the basic requirement, you must meet one of the following minimum qualifications: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of qualifying specialized experience include duties such as: 1) conducting water quality sampling or testing using meters, sondes, and/or test kits; 2) collecting field data on fish species and populations using standard sampling methodologies; 3) collecting ecological field data on aquatic systems, such as plankton or macroinvertebrate sampling, aquatic vegetation surveys, and/or measuring physical parameters; 4) researching information on aquatic systems; 5) writing reports and presenting findings from aquatic field studies; 6) leading field crews in aquatic sampling, inventory, and monitoring projects. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in a directly related field. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above. Note: only graduate education in excess of second year (or masters level) is creditable. To combine education and experience, first divide your total months of qualifying specialized experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond two years (36 semester hours) by 18. Add the two percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. ICTAP/CTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special prior­ity selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level. Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), degree conferral (if applicable), and grade-point average or class ranking.
