This position is located in the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC), Natural Resources and Conservation (NRCS), Science and Technology Deputy Area (S&T). The primary purpose of the position is to support the Director of the assigned division within the S&T Deputy area as a communication team member assisting and implementing all aspects of content generation and design.

Duties

Provide advice on the most effective visual tools and methods to enhance communication for an organization’s programs and activities. Operate desktop publishing systems to interface with other computer operating systems. Develop visual products and materials to convey information. Communicate information through visual means. Serve as liaison with Government Printing Office (GPO).

Requirements

Qualifications

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. (Please submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No Award or General Adjustment SF-50's will be accepted). Time-in-grade requirements also apply to VEOA applicants having held a GS position in the past year. See addition information. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying: GS-09 Specialized Experience: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties: Provide recommendations on design for imaginative and creative material for publications, presentations, and technical data; Apply graphic/visual information practices, concepts, and principles to coordinate and complete visual information assignments; Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to convey information about agency programs, priorities, and initiatives; Assist in planning and developing visual themes, concepts, and products for stakeholders. (Your resume must CLEARLY demonstrate this experience) OR Education: Must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. (You must submit transcripts.) OR Combination: Must have a combination of the education and experience as described above that totals 100% when combined. When combining education with experience, first determine total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then determine experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; finally add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. Only graduate education beyond one year (18 semester hours) may be used when combining education and experience at the GS-09 grade level.
