This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northwest Region, Superintendent Flathead Agency, Irrigation in Saint Ignatius, Montana.

Duties
Operate, construct and maintain fish screens and passages.
Assist in monitoring the in-stream fish flow.
Operate tools and equipment Collect and deliver water supply to water users.
to repair structures of concrete, metal, and wood.
Read and interpret blueprints and other drawings to maintain and repair fish screens and facility passages.
Assist with planning of work schedules and budgets of the facility to protect fishery activities.

- As a minor duty, incumbent may be required to work as an Irrigation System Operator on a temporary basis, for delivery of irrigation water.
- NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.
- Position is SEASONAL and subject to PLACEMENT IN NON-PAY STATUS when services are not needed due to lack of work, funds, or unforeseen circumstances as designated during the year, a minimum of 2 weeks and maximum of 26 weeks.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Technical and Medical Support positions, and Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0404).
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-7: I have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-6 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Examples of specialized experience include operating tools and welding skills needed to construct equipment to operate fish screens and passage structures to capture and handle instream fish flows and protect the fish. Monitor in-stream fish flows, carry out fishery program activities, protect and maintain fishery facility. OR 1 full year of graduate level education courses in a field of study directly related to the position to be filled such as in biology, microbiology, marine biology, botany wildlife biology, ecology, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture or mathematics or other field of study directly related to the work of this position. OR, a combination of specialized experience and education.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: Graduate education must be related to the occupation and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
