This posting is for a Supply Clerk position in the Department of Veterans Affairs Optical Lab located at the Park Fletcher Industrial Complex on the southwest side at 5610 Dividend Drive, Suite B, Indianapolis, IN.
The primary purpose of the Supply Clerk position is the management of stock and inventory for the Optical Lab.
Duties
The major duties of the Supply Clerk position located at the Optical Lab will include, but not be limited to:
Shipping out Veteran's eyeglasses to either their home or a dispensary dependent on the care site
Planning and organizing service storage space by keeping track of future orders to be received so that there is space available for stock and the stock is strategically stored to meet service needs
Tracking record of all jobs that go out each day and provide each care site with a packing slip with the jobs that are contained in it
Input of all supporting documentation, management of necessary records, and completion of inventory reports and investigation of any discrepancies
Maximizing the available storage space and insuring that the work area is clear of debris for easy flow of stock
Exercising proper safety measures when using and handling equipment
Work Schedule: Primarily Monday - Friday, 7:30a.m - 4:00p.m.

Qualifications

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
General Experience: You must have one year of generalized experience. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Performs a combination of tasks related to the receipt, storage and replenishment of manufacturing, production and office supplies
Plans and organizes service storage space by keeping track of future orders to be received so that there is space available for stock and the stock is strategically stored to meet service needs
Experience with supply accountability rules and inventory controls
Experience using computers to order, track and distribute supplies
Maintenance of confidentiality of patient/employee information, in electronic and print formats
OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 2 years of education above high school. [Transcripts must be submitted with your application.]
OR
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level.
Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Determine the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determine the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then add the two percentages. Physical Requirements: Work is performed in an office setting. However, the Supply Clerk will assist in the receipt, storage and distribution of supplies primarily consisting of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee might be required to endure brief periods of heat, humidity, etc. as some warehouse areas are not air-conditioned.The Supply Clerk works both indoors and occasionally outdoors in an environment involving everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety practices within the office setting involving equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations is required.
