The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is recruiting for a Homeland Secure Data Network (HSDN) Operations Technical Specialist to be a subject matter expert that organizes, analyzes, and acts on information in support of the National Security Systems, Classified Data Networks, and Special Access Programs in the DHS Office of the Chief Information Officer. This position is in the DHS Cybersecurity Service.
Duties
As a Homeland Secure Data Network (HSDN) Operations Technical Specialist, you will perform a range of administrative and technical tasks in support of OCIO IT Operations Directorate efforts to implement National Security Systems (NSS), Classified Data Networks, and Special Access Programs while aligning Information Technology (IT) systems and infrastructure to mission critical activities across DHS Components and HQ.As a DHS Cybersecurity Service Employee in the Technical Track, at the Principal Cybersecurity Specialist level, you will continually maintain and share your senior expert/authority-level Security System Operations and Maintenance expertise to perform a range of unusually difficult, complex tasks, including:
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or national.
- You must be 18 years of age.
- Must be registered for the Selective Service (if you are a male).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Must be able to submit to a drug test and receive a negative result.
- Must be able to comply with ethics and standards of conduct requirements, including completing any applicable financial disclosure.
- May be required to serve a 3 year probationary period.
- Remote work is available for this position. Must live within 2 hours of a DHS SCIF for remote work eligibility.

Have 12+ years of cybersecurity work experience.
Are capable of serving as a DHS cybersecurity technical authority who performs work of unusual difficulty to develop complex solutions impacting key DHS or Federal cybersecurity programs.
DHS Cybersecurity Service employees with a technical capability in Security System Operations and Maintenance will generally:
Implement, configure, and manage security devices and systems (such as firewalls, intrusion detection and log collectors, and vulnerability scanners) in accordance with policies, procedures, and best practices.
Install, manage, and monitor security measures to support mitigation efforts; shares relevant information with system and network administrators.
This position is focused on Security Systems Operation and Maintenance.
