About the Position: Serves as an IT Specialist (NETWORK) coordinating and intergrading technical aspects of Information Technology with Installation requirements. This is a Bargaining Unit position AR3135

Duties

Installation, maintenance, testing, evaluation, and repair of local and campus area networks, advanced network communication devices and equivalent media links. Diagnose and resolve network problems. Program, install, uninstall, upgrade, and maintain cryptographic devices in support of Secure Internet Protocol Router Network. Provide technical guidance. Use analysis results to determine ways to improve network link relocation and modification.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • This position requires to complete the appropriate training to obtain and maintain certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005.
  • This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
  • This position requires IA Technical Level I certification be attained within 6 months of assignment to the position and maintained thereafter.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, two full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks GS-11 Level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Experience configuring hubs, switches, or routers; Experience monitoring network performance; and Experience performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, or mitigation of network related issues using a multitude of tools/techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
