This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Fayetteville NC VA Medical Center, Environmental Management Service. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing housekeeping work for the medical center.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis. Reorganize work schedules efficiently in order that work is accomplished in a timely manner. Coordinate work with supervisors of other services within the incumbents area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care or other activities. Provide on-the job training for subordinates as individual needs dictate. Initiates oral and written counseling to members of the unit on all matters of performance and conduct; recommends and initiates disciplinary action for review and action by higher level supervisor whenever non-compliance with policy warrants. Conducts performance evaluations of subordinates and recommends performance awards. Routinely inspect assigned area to assure the timely accomplishment of employee assignments that sanitation levels are being maintained, equipment properly cared for and that associated housekeeping objectives are accomplished in an expedient and timely manner. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
