About the Position: This is a Project Assistant (OA) GS-0303-05 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division (SWD), Galveston District, Engineering and Construction Division, and will be located in La Marque, TX.
This will be a TERM Appointment NTE 13 Months and can be extended or made permanent once certain conditions are met. See the Qualifications section below for more information on the nature of TERM appointments.
Duties
Maintain numerous computerized data files using automated software programs.
Initiate payment documents, charging cost to proper account including credit card purchases.
Reconcile monthly credit card statements.
Prepare travel orders, make travel arrangements for staff members.
Perform time keeping processing and analysis.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a qualified typist.
- This position may require the employee to occasionally travel up to 5%.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes at least 2 out of the 3 following duties: 1) utilizing automated office software to create reports; or 2) entering data into an automated financial management system; or 3) performing administrative support duties for an office, such as file maintenance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 13 months. Term appointment has the potential to be extended beyond six years up to eight years. Position may be made permanent at the discretion of management.
This position will be filled as a time-limited appointment. Army employees who accept a time limited appointments (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended.
There are no return/reemployment rights to the position vacated prior to accepting the time-limited appointment. Permanent Army employees who accept a time limited appointment will be expected to sign a statement of understanding acknowledging the associated impacts of taking such appointment.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
