The Background Investigations Directorate is seeking motivated individuals with inquisitive minds to fill the position of Investigative Assistant. This person should be a self-starter who will perform a variety of technical and administrative duties such as: records checks, letter preparation, preparing reports of investigation, and other related tasks under the direction of the Supervisory Investigator.

Duties

This position will be filled at the GG-05 grade level. Incumbent may be advanced non-competitively to the established target grade upon meeting developmental benchmarks, performance requirements, and other requirements, as applicable established for the career program or specifically for the incumbent. As an INVESTIGATIVE ASSISTANT you will be responsible for the following duties:

Requirements

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience required for this position is: Clerical or technical experience that includes organizing information, maintaining data base records (entering, searching for, retrieving, editing and deleting data) Using word processing and basic spreadsheet software Reviewing basic documents (employment applications, claims for benefits, loan applications, contracts, or investigative forms) for accuracy and completeness Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: 1. Decision Making: Specifies goals and obstacles to achieving those goals, generates alternatives, considers risks, and evaluates and chooses the best alternative in order to make a determination, draw conclusions or solve a problem. 2. Education

If substituting education for experience, at the GG-05 level, you must have successfully completed four years of post-high-school education
