About the Position: About the Position: Responsible for prioritizing and evaluating incoming emergency and nonemergency calls, identifying the nature of emergency, response required, and providing information to the responding units. Monitors multiple close circuit cameras and provides real time information to police and security patrols. Monitors installation fire alarm system to acknowledge or defer alarms. Operates Computer Aided Dispatching system, radios and station alerting systems.

Duties

Evaluate and prioritize 911 incoming emergency and nonemergency calls. Monitors multiple close circuit cameras and providing real time information to police and security patrols. Accesses the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) to obtain information. Provides emergency medical dispatching assistance to callers with medical emergencies. May instruct how to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), the Heimlich maneuver, emergency childbirth, opening an airway or controlling bleeding. Monitors and logs status and availability of police, fire and medical first responders to assure an appropriate response are made. Operates Computer Aided Dispatching system, radios and station alerting systems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Non-Critical Sensitive (Secret) background clearance for the duration of employment.
  • This position will require cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certification.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing during employment.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period.
  • This position will require shift work and may have alternating work hours or rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • This position is Mission Essential regardless of weather conditions, Force Protection Condition (FPCON) or installation closure and employee must report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
  • This position requires obtaining and maintaining NCIC certification.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current DoD Telecommunicator I and II (or equivalent), DoD Hazmat Awareness certification within 6 months of employment.

Specialized Experience: Experience which demonstrates work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the operation of a 911 system, dispatching emergency responders, monitoring closed circuit cameras, monitoring and operating an Intrusion Detection System, operating a NCIC Terminal. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
