The United States Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, is seeking an experienced attorney to serve in the position of Assistant Chief in its San Francisco Office. This is a management detail at the GS-15 level. The San Francisco Office investigates and prosecutes violations of the federal antitrust and related laws committed by corporations and executives.

Duties

The San Francisco Office investigates and litigates criminal antitrust matters, handles criminal matters of national and international scope, and serves as the Division's liaison with U.S. Attorneys Offices, state Attorneys General, and other law enforcement agencies within its region. The San Francisco Office also conducts civil antitrust investigations and litigation, responsibilities include: The Assistant Chief will assist the Chief in managing criminal investigations and cases, and supervising personnel, as well assisting with career development, training, and mentoring. The Assistant Chief may also be responsible for leading criminal investigations and prosecutions. To qualify, an applicant must: Be a citizen of the United States; Possess a J.D. degree or equivalent, be an active member of the bar in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction), have at least four years of post-J.D legal experience. The successful applicant will have significant, wide-ranging legal experience and expertise in a law enforcement environment, including: Significant experience working effectively with Division staff in the investigation and prosecution of criminal matters; Strong federal litigation experience; The ability to identify quickly and to describe succinctly, orally and in writing, the salient legal issues in complex Division investigations; Demonstrated experience representing the Division to other government organizations and private sector companies and firms; The ability to work closely as part of a management team with oversight of the Division's matters and to work effectively with Division employees in all areas; Experience managing or leading groups of attorneys, including formal or informal mentoring of less-experienced attorneys; and Thorough knowledge of and up-to-date experience in applying the full range of policies and procedures governing the investigation of criminal matters within the Division

Education

You must possess a J.D. or equivalent degree to qualify for consideration as a Trial Attorney for the Department of Justice, Antitrust Division.
