Incumbent is supervisor of the Electrical/Electronics Maintenance Unit and as such has full range of responsibility and control of all work operation of this unit. Responsible for both quantity and quality of the work production of each employee in this unit. As supervisor of this unit, it is the incumbent's duty to make and approve leave schedules, make daily work assignments, recommend promotions, and take necessary disciplinary actions and handle complaints of subordinates.

Duties

The duties of the Electronics Mechanic Supervisor, WS-2604-11 include, but are not limited to: Develop and carry out maintenance plan for work unit. Assign work to journeyman. Supervise work involving many types of skills such as electric motor maintenance and repair from fractional horsepower to 75 horsepower, 110-480 volts. Supervise the installation, inspection and testing of a wide variety of power circuits. Supervise the maintenance and repair of the electrical switchgear that provides power to the entire medical center consisting of seven emergency generators. Supervise the maintenance and repair of critical electronic equipment such as the fire alarm system, nurse call system, paging system, security systems, radio systems, etc. Determine the proper preventive maintenance protocol to be used on equipment. Maintain proper materials, tools, and test equipment to accomplish work assignments of the work unit without delay. Operate equipment such as volt, ohm/milliamp meter, voltage tester, dual trace oscilloscope, transistor and diode tester, printer circuit board tester, integrated and IC circuit checker as well as general shop tools and test equipment. Quality control check projects in progress. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. ***A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required.*** Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The duties of this position require physical exertion involving, lifting, pulling, pushing, or carrying objects of various weights sizes and shapes. Physical effort exerted is walking, running, climbing, crawling and bending. Strain related to lack of movement such as standing in place, crunching or stooping for extended periods of time. Working Conditions: Lifting, heating, ventilation in the work area: Incumbent is exposed to heat restricted ventilation and poor illumination in areas such as equipment rooms. Weather conditions in which exposed when working outdoors: Incumbent is exposed to all weather conditions when working outside. Temperatures to which exposed in the work area: Incumbent is exposed to varying climatic conditions from an office to environmentally controlled space to excessive heat in the boiler plant. Dust, grease and soiling of clothing and skin surfaces: Incumbent is exposed to various hazardous materials in the course of performing work and is provided protective clothing, equipment and safety devices for protections. Noise and vibration: The emergency generator and equipment rooms are above the allowable decibel rating and hearing protection is provided. Gases and fumes - Diesel fumes and hazardous gases are in the work environment during various task. Respiratory protection is provided for the incumbent Hazards in working above ground level, on slippery surfaces or in crowded areas near moving vehicles or cutting tools: Incumbent is at risk of high voltage electric shock; injury from falls, burns, bruises and cuts.
