The Utility Systems Operator Supervisor is responsible for directing and planning the activities of the Air Conditioning/Machinist and Plumbing sections. The position involves the direction and supervision of employees and reviews work, making decisions independently within the range of responsibility.

Duties

Major duties include: Determines and orders monthly and quarterly requirements for operating supplies. Initiates work orders for repair and maintenance of equipment, plans schedules, establishes standard operating procedures and reviews job analysis sheets for accuracy and man power utilization. Develops work and leave schedules. Maintains mandatory operating logs and records. Assigns work to subordinates through oral or written instructions. Provides on the job training and participates in formal training programs for employees. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Evaluates employee performance as rater. Administers disciplinary action when indicated. Assists employees with personnel problems and/or employee complaints. Interviews applicants and makes recommendations for hiring, promoting, reassignment. Instruct and train subordinates. **A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required.** Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Utility Systems Operator Supervisor (HVAC/Machinist and Plumbing)/PD065660 Physical Requirements: Must be in good physical condition due to climbing, stooping, and bending required by the position. The incumbent is exposed to the same working conditions as all employees. This includes lifting heavy equipment, bending, stooping, working in cramped places for extended periods of time, and often working in very hot and cold places.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
