This position is located in the Office of Acquisitions (OA), Real Estate Contracting Branch (RECB). OA supports biomedical research by providing contracting solutions to secure required architecture and engineering, construction, real estate leasing, and facility support services. RECB is responsible for performing a wide variety of real estate acquisition and accession activities from acquisition planning through negotiation, contract award, and contract closeout.
Duties
As a Realty Specialist, some of your major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.
- Employment is subject to the successful completion of the pre-appointment process (i.e., background investigation, verification of qualifications and job requirements, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, etc.)

Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-09 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
Have completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: acquiring land and/or structures, or space involving common or familiar uses with standard or no encumbrances, little or no environmental impact or controversial issues; assisting in developing non-complex leasing strategies for standard administrative space; assisting in negotiating standard contracts; and performing cost analysis related to standard lease cost for administrative space;
OR
Have a combination of related post baccalaureate education and specialized experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
You qualify at the GS-11 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
Have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related.
OR
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: supporting a real property program through acquisition of leasehold and lesser interests and the purchase, disposal, and utilization of real property; providing advice and guidance in the administration of leases and other use agreements; executing contracts and other authorizing agreements and modifications; coordinating construction or renovation schedules, managing leases; and assisting in real estate acquisition and accession activities;
OR
Have a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: developing leasing strategies; reviewing contiguous space requirement specifications, minimum square foot areas, firm term lease periods, geographical boundary lines limitations; serving as liaison with construction or renovation companies, managing coordination of construction or renovation; schedules; negotiating leases; and performing real estate acquisition and accession activities from acquisition planning through negotiation and contract award to contract closeout.
