About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.
Duties
Prepare damaged panel(s) for repair by cleaning and degreasing metal skin by chemical immersion, acid, etching, oxide or bead blasting.
Determine what bonding agent to use considering such factors as the dimension, density, cell size, shape and thickness of the honeycomb fill.
Operate CNC water jet cutter to fabricate/trim composites, rubber products, honeycomb materials, and various metal products.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical exam.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Composite Fabricator without more than normal supervision. Perform common Composite Fabricator tasks and have journeyman experience with repairing aircraft structural panels. Examine various structures in order to determine proper repairs. Experience with bonding agents and can perform various sheet metal repairs. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Employee stands for prolonged periods of time; also bends, kneels, reaches and stoops. Frequently moves molds, aircraft panels and other moderately heavy objects up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works inside a clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated area. Workers are frequently exposed to loud noise, dust, fumes, toxic and/or potentially flammable chemicals which can cause skin, eye and lung irritations, as well as to the possibility of cuts, burns and bruises. Numerous protective devices, equipment and clothing are available for employees, such as respirators, face shields, glove, smocks, dual ear protection, protective hand cream, safety glasses, safety shoes, downdraft tables, updraft work stations, etc. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of the position.
