This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Alaska District is seeking to fill a Section Chief position located in the South Branch. An ideal candidate will have strong experience in administering and enforcing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Program. Also possess knowledge of environmental laws

Duties

Executes the Corps Regulatory Program within assigned area of Alaska District to meet the needs of management and assigned functional responsibilities Acts as advisor to the Branch Chief on the executions of the regulatory program. Interprets and directs the implementation of regulations, directives and procedures affecting assigned functions. Plans and directs through subordinate staff the implementation of functional responsibilities of a Regulatory Section which includes the following activities. Establishes production goals, priorities, and major work schedules. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and establishes schedules for completion of work.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
