About the Position: The Alaska District is seeking to fill a Section Chief position located in the South Branch. An ideal candidate will have strong experience in administering and enforcing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Program. Also possess knowledge of environmental laws
Duties
Executes the Corps Regulatory Program within assigned area of Alaska District to meet the needs of management and assigned functional
responsibilities
Acts as advisor to the Branch Chief on the executions of the regulatory program. Interprets and directs the implementation of regulations,
directives and procedures affecting assigned functions.
Plans and directs through subordinate staff the implementation of functional responsibilities of a Regulatory Section which includes the
following activities.
Establishes production goals, priorities, and major work schedules. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term
priorities, and establishes schedules for completion of work.

Basic Education Requirement: This position has a basic entry requirement. The entry requirement requires completion of education or a combination of education and experience sufficient to be comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a four-year course of study with a major in the professional or scientific field.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating permit applications for work subject to compliance with the Clean Water Act and/or the Rivers and Harbors Act; performing permit compliance inspections and resolving noncompliance and enforcement actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
