The RRTP Program Manager is responsible for overseeing administrative and day-to-day operations of the Stress Disorders Treatment Program (SDTP) and the Psychiatric Recovery & Wellness Program (PRWP) located on the Topeka campus. The SDTP is one of eight national programs to be selected as part of a massed EBP protocol for treating trauma/PTSD. The PRWP is a one-of-a kind residential program with goal of promoting hope, empowerment, and personal responsibility. Come join our team!

Duties

Duties to include but not limited to the following: The RRTP Program Manager is responsible for overseeing administrative and day-to-day operations of the Stress Disorders Treatment Program (SDTP) in collaboration with the SDTP nurse manager and SDTP multi-disciplinary team. SDTP is a 21 bed RRTP offering a 7-week program for male and female Veterans with PTSD and other stress related disorders. The Program Manager is also responsible for overseeing administrative and day-to-day operations of the Psychiatric Recovery & Wellness Program (PRWP) in collaboration with the PRWP multi-disciplinary team. PRWP is a 17-bed inpatient mental health recovery unit offering 2-5 weeks of recovery based mental health care, and it is inclusive of all mental health diagnosis. Both teams consists of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Mental Health Counselors, and Peer Support Specialists. The manager will have supervisory authority over select staff pertinent to the administration of the program. Other direct reports may be assigned based on the needs of the program and/or service line. The Program Manager will work with other discipline-specific supervisors providing input into hiring, training, scheduling, environment of care, and applications of work. The Program Manager will interpret and update policies, procedures, and program guidelines in the development, planning, operations, and continuous performance improvement of the programs consistent with VHA Handbook 1162.02 Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs. Specific processes will be implemented across all programming to ensure an efficient and effective process for admissions, discharges, and transitions of care. The Program Manager will also play a key role in ensuring CARF accreditation and Joint Commission standards are met. Broader managerial duties include participation in the larger leadership environment using a transformational style of leadership and focusing on specific values and strategies that influence the culture that supports quality employment for staff and care for Veterans. This involves: 1) Utilization of High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles focusing on safety and Just Culture; 2) Growth in cultural and linguistic competency and diversity of the workforce; 3) Advocacy around health outcomes; 4) Quality communication between employees, Veterans, and key stakeholders. 5) Collaboration both with the many complex VA systems of care and also with community partners. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The approving official may authorize a waiver of the requirement for ACEN or CCNE accreditation of any degree in nursing provided the college or university has regional accreditation from an accrediting body recognized by the Department of Education at the time of the candidate's graduation and the composite qualifications of the applicant warrant such consideration. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience and Certifications - Clinical experience in Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse IV: Master's degree in nursing with approximately 4-5 years experience as a nurse practitioner OR a doctoral degree in nursing with approximately 3-4 years experience AND certification must be in the specialty to which the individual is being appointed or selected. Note regarding MSN degrees: If your MSN was obtained via a Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration, a BSN is not required. Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-6 Nurse Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements: RNs require visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting of at least 35 pounds. Transferring/lifting patients and objects may be required. Staff may be required to don protective equipment in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. They may also be exposed to patients who are combative, secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The HBPC RN must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. They may be exposed, on a short-term basis to fumes, dust, and other debris. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as EKHCS is a 24/7 hospital, and an RN is identified as an essential worker
