The primary purpose of this position is to utilize logistics expertise to develop, implement, direct, and/or function as part of a logistics management operation for Headquarters Air Force Global Strike Command Nuclear Stockpile Division in support of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) requirements during acquisition and sustainment phases of assigned systems.

Duties

As a technical expert, responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating total, cradle to grave logistics management to support complex, major weapons system from concept through field deployment. Develops, refines, analyzes, and issues logistics policies for assigned programs applicable to one or more DoD components. Exercises full program responsibility for virtual EOD training systems. Develops functional guidance for new systems and for major system modifications. Serves as a HQ AFGSC Nuclear Stockpile Division representative and spokesperson in communicating program matters.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • This is a drug test designated position. Incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • This is a Centrally Managed Position in the Administrative and Management Positions Career Field. PCS will be paid in accordance with JTR Vol. 2 and applicable Air Force Regulations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Logistics Management Series 0346. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR CURRENT FEDERAL APPLICANTS: Current Federal Employees must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level. Specialized experience must include broad knowledge of the theories and principles of logistics management through all project phases. Thorough knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the logistics management program processes. Comprehensive knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning acquisition and logistics management processes and initiatives sufficient to prepare long-range plans, analyze, and coordinate a system or portion of a major system's acquisition and transfer into operational use. Expert knowledge of the application of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative assessment methods sufficient to improve logistics planning processes and enhance the quality and effectiveness of complex logistics programs. Knowledge of DoD weapons systems management and sustainment program goals, sequences of key weapons systems management and sustainment events and milestones, and methods of evaluating weapons systems management and sustainment. Ability to apply knowledge to design and conduct comprehensive studies of logistics management information systems analysis issues for which boundaries are extremely broad and difficult to determine in advance. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS FOR CURRENT FEDERAL APPLICANTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS FOR CURRENT NON-FEDERAL APPLICANTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition and logistics management processes and initiatives. Knowledge of the application of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative assessment methods. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the logistics management program processes. Skill in staff level planning, organizing, and overseeing critical aspects of development, production, and support of systems, subsystems, or equipment. Ability to integrate, analyze, and manage a variety of logistics functions in support of research, development, production, and support of a system, subsystem, or equipment. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
