Duties

The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio is seeking an attorneys with criminal litigation experience. If selected for a position in Akron, OH you may be expected to travel to Cleveland, OH for training for up to one year. The Criminal Division is organized into six sections: General Crimes; White Collar Crimes; National Security; Violent Crimes; Narcotics/Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF); and Appellate. Criminal Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) prosecute federal criminal cases in the District. Criminal AUSAs advise federal law enforcement agents on criminal investigations, present criminal cases to the grand jury, try criminal cases before the United States District Court, and represent the United States in criminal appeals before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Candidates should be capable of handling a variety of significant and complex criminal prosecutions. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member in good standing of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least three (3) full years of post-bar admission professional attorney experience. United States citizenship is required. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement. Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. All initial attorney positions to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis.
