The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System recruiting for a Physical Therapist (Program Coordinator). The Physical Therapist (Program Coordinator) will function in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service.

The Physical Therapist (Program Coordinator) duties include, but are not limited to:
Establish, negotiate, and maintain current affiliation agreements with schools.
Serve as liaison with schools in determining when students can be accepted for
training, the number of students, areas of training and clinical assignments.
Identify staff willing to have a student the following year and plans the calendar
year by assigning students to staff and ensuring the number of students at the same
time is optimal for training opportunities and staff time constraints.
Prepare Cis for their role by providing training and feedback to CI.
Serve as a primary resource in the orientation process of all Physical Therapy students.
Design, conduct, and evaluate the educational experience for the students assigned to Physical Therapy.
Arrange and serve as the instructor for clinical in-services for the student during rotation.
Accept offers of clinical affiliations to serve on curriculum committees of the colleges or universities providing input into course content for Physical Therapy students.
Designate a Clinical Instructor (CI) as supervisor of every student assigned to the clinical center.
Participate in the clinical visitation (Site visits) interview process.
Maintain files related to current affiliation agreements.
Provide initial facility orientation to students and new hires in PM&RS.
Arrange for pertinent in-service educational programs to be provided for PM&RS staff.
Demonstrate ability to make autonomous clinical decisions in a Direct Access environment.
Perform a chart review to assess appropriateness of the referral and possible contraindications for treatment.
Complete evaluations and treatment according to service policies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).
Education: The individual must meet at least one of the requirements below:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy AND five (5) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist.
Master's degree in Physical Therapy AND two (2) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist.
Doctorate degree in physical therapy.
Licensure: Individuals hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
NOTE: Individuals must be a graduate of a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited college or university. The CAPTE is the only accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit entry-level physical therapy programs. Verification of accredited programs may be obtained from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) at www.apta.org.
Foreign Graduates. Graduates of foreign physical therapy programs meet the requirements if they have a full unrestricted and current license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Although the licensing of physical therapists in the U.S. is a right and responsibility of each jurisdiction, foreign educated individuals must undergo an educational credentials assessment for substantial equivalency to the first professional degree in the US.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinations:
GS-13 Experience. In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must possess one year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level and demonstrate all the KSAs below:
Ability to apply advanced knowledge of contemporary physical therapy within specialty area to provide clinical guidance, training or education for internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to serve as a consultant within the assigned program area for intra-agency and interagency planning and to provide service coordination to optimize program continuity, efficiency and effectiveness.
Knowledge of and skill in management, administration and/or education methodologies. This includes the ability to monitor and track data, utilize available resources effectively, evaluate program quality, and generate reports for local, and/or VISN and/or VACO leadership.
Ability to develop and coordinate treatment and/or educational programs within a concentrated field or specialty area, such as, but not limited to, amputee, spinal cord injury, chronic pain, student clinical education/residency programming, polytrauma/traumatic brain injury.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships within department and with other departments or affiliated programs.
Ability to guide the work of a multi-disciplinary team.

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-13.
Physical Requirements: The incumbent of the position will meet and maintain physical and drug test program requirements for the position as required. Heavy lifting, 45 pounds and over; use of fingers, both hands required; reaching above shoulder; walking (8 hours); standing (8 hours); both legs required (1 prosthetic); far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; ability to distinguish basic colors; ability to distinguish shades of colors; hearing (aid permitted), and mental and emotional stability.
