You will serve as an Industrial Hygiene Technician in the Bureau Medicine and surgery Military Treatment Facility (BUMED MTF) of NMRTC PEARL HARBOR HI.
This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will plan, coordinate and conduct industrial hygiene sampling surveys to collect exposure monitoring data to assess work practices and environmental conditions.
You will perform field measurements using industrial hygiene sampling equipment.
You will provide written documentation of sampling for inclusion in command in command-level survey reports.
You will enter exposure monitoring data into Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System (DOEHRS-IH) or equivalent industrial hygiene exposure data monitoring system.
Requirements

Qualifications
Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.,
For GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience completing workplace monitoring in support of Exposure Monitoring Plans for multiple industrial commands/organizations across geographically dispersed areas.
Experience conducting complete workplace monitoring evaluations using various Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring equipment of work operations involving potentially hazardous occupational physical and chemical stressors with minimal oversight of an Industrial Hygienist.
Experience gathering data on-site for the recognized chemical and physical hazards of the work operations monitored.
Experience documenting workplace conditions and any apparent violations of occupational safety and health standards during the monitoring of work operations.
Experience managing IH monitoring equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair programs within an industrial hygiene program office.
Experience preparing instructional outlines and providing technical instruction to IH professionals, technicians and workplace monitors on the use of new technically advanced Industrial Hygiene equipment.
Experience utilizing MS Office Suite software such as Words, Excel, and/or Access.
Experience utilizing electronic data warehouse applications such as the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) for entering occupational exposure monitoring data.
For GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Experience utilizing MS Office Suite software such as Words, Excel, and/or Access.
Experience utilizing electronic data warehouse applications such as the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) for entering occupational exposure monitoring data.

Education
SUBSTITUITION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7.
Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9.
One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
