Serves as an Accounting Technician at a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) HQ facility. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a wide range of technical accounting duties which enable the incumbent to resolve a variety of complex accounting and customer service issues.
Duties
Resolve a variety of complex accounting and customer service issues.
Supports various accounting and fiscal operations.
Responsible for reviewing documents to ensure accuracy of accounting reports.
Provides customer service to store employees, contractors, vendors and debit/ credit card patrons.
Interprets inquiries and resolves discrepancies and complex problems.
This position offers promotion potential to a higher grade. To prepare you for the higher grade, work assignments will be progressively more complex. After meeting all qualifications and requirements for the next grade level and with your supervisor's recommendation, you may be promoted without further competition. However, promotion is neither guaranteed nor automatic.

Requirements

Qualifications
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 0525 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, or a combination of the two to qualify.
Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level or equivalent to at least GS-04 under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military.
Examples of qualifying experience include:
Providing customer service to employees, contractors, vendors, returned checks and credit card and debit card patrons.
Preparing written responses to inquiries and correspondence requesting additional information related to customer service accounting, credit/debit card, checks and gift certificates.
Researching void errors to debit/credit card transactions for retail organizations.
Performing a variety of accounting duties involved in the administration of revolving and appropriated funds

Education: Four (4) full years of successfully completed education above high school at an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college, or university. Transcripts are required if relying on education, in whole or in part, to qualify. See Required Documents for more information.

Combination of experience and education: To calculate the combination, divide your total months of experience by 12, then divide your semester hours by 60 and add the two percentages. If the total is 100%, you meet the minimum qualifications through a combination of experience and education.
You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
