About the Position: Serves as Psychology Technician in Department of Behavioral Health, providing individualized behavioral health triage assessments to clients that are primarily active duty military soldiers and other eligible personnel, and consultation support to Unit Commanders and clinic medical personnel. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Provides emergency crisis intervention counseling in person and telephonically as needed. Prepares written case history and maintains client files that they actively counsel in accordance with directives and Behavioral Health (BH) SOPs. Performs counseling services for clients with psychological conditions under the direct supervision of a licensed mental health professional assigned to Behavioral Health (BH). Provides practical, short-term counselingservices for an assigned caseload of clients with varying degrees of severity.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • TDY (Temporary Duty) is required at least 5% of the time.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating mental health patients to determine required services; providing counseling services; and maintaining patient files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Child and Family Welfare, Counseling, Family and Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Sociology, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
