The primary purpose of this position is: To develop statistical controls and conduct quality control of laboratory data; perform statistical reviews of laboratory data from samples that undergo analysis in support of nuclear treaty monitoring activities; perform advanced statistical research related to analysis and evaluation techniques.
Duties
Conducts substantial in-depth studies, evaluations, and analytical data interpretation requiring the use of advanced statistical techniques.
Reviews, from a statistical viewpoint, broad technical data summaries, detailed technical memoranda, technical analysis and evaluation reports prepared by the squadron and/or associated agencies for distribution to several other governmental agencies and for inclusion in reports to the highest levels of the government.
Directs/participates in meetings; and conferences with leading senior scientists in government and industry as an expert representative of AFTAC in matters pertaining to data analysis and evaluation, and interpretation with regards to statistical/computational analytic techniques.
Prepares technical data summaries, technical memoranda, analysis documents, evaluation documents, and technical reports on the statistical aspects of data related to the Division mission that is of interest to national-level customers.
Researches and determines or recommends appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact center/group/squadron/division or agency.

- Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP)

- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42,

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions.
This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include knowledge of computational statistical methods applied to measurement data (e.g. nuclear counting, mass spectrometry), mastery of principles related to advanced statistical and computational approaches to complex problems; and Expert in applying the scientific method to technical analyses and research projects.
