This WG-3603-07 Masonry Worker is part of the Facility Maintenance Division, located at Zion National Park in Springdale, Utah. This is a permanent, full-time, Career-Seasonal position, subject to non-pay up to 4 pay periods each year, scheduled between late December and early February. Career-Seasonal appointments include the same benefits as year-round Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis.

Duties

This WG-07 Masonry Worker is part of the Facility Maintenance Division, located at Zion National Park in Springdale, Utah. The primary purpose of this position is to perform various masonry tasks in the stabilization and rehabilitation of structures. Major Duties: Assist in the maintenance, repair, and restoration of structures and surfaces constructed of stone. Assist higher-graded employees in the preparation of test mixes and prepares amended and unamended mortars according to specifications. With minimal direct supervision, remove damaged portions of walls, partitions or other similar structures in preparation for repair. Cap, replace, grout, and reinforce walls/portions of walls, with close supervision, so that the repaired portion closely matches the original, undamaged portions of the structure. Load, unload and haul cement, soil, stone, tools, and equipment, stack and handle stone building materials and supplies to job site. Physical Demands: Incumbent often lifts objects weighing over 50 pounds, unassisted. The incumbent frequently stands while working and must frequently climb ladders and scaffolds from 6 to 30 feet. Bending, stooping, climbing, and working in awkward positions are regularly required. Working Conditions: The incumbent is exposed to a variety of weather conditions while working outdoors and is subject to danger of falling when working from ladders and scaffolds. They may be exposed to dust and dirt while mixing mortar, removing damaged portions of walls, and while handling various masonry materials. Frequently works around heavy equipment and vehicles. In accordance with OSHA regulations, must use all personal protective equipment as required by OSHA regulations.

To qualify for this position, your resume must show that you possess sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: 1. The ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision for the Masonry Worker WG-3603-07 position (SCREEN OUT). Experience must be demonstrated, in your resume, showing your ability to perform common tasks associated with masonry work: maintain, repair, and preserve masonry structure; remove damaged portions of masonry or architectural features; selecting and dressing replacement stones; laying stones; mixing mortar that has appropriate color, strength, and composition; and/or replicating original architectural styles. 2.
