Duties
Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls
Distribute and balance workload among employees in accordance with established workflow.
Ensure all policies and regulations are followed and ensures safety in operations and training at all times.
Give on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established policies and practices.
Operate Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system, radios and station alerting systems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification within their first 12 months of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain State Telecommunicator I and State Telecommunicator II Certification within their first 12 months of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes receiving 911 calls or other emergency calls to determine problems, dispatching to appropriate personnel and monitoring or responding to any of the following, fire, life, and safety alarms for medical facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
