You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (HAZARDOUS MATERIALS OPERATIONS) OR FIREFIGHTER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT) in the NAVY FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DIRECTORATE of NSA HAMPTON ROADS NORTHWEST ANNEX.
Duties
You will perform an initial patient assessment in a medical emergency.
You will administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED) for a patient.
You will perform pre-fire layout inspections of structures to locate potential fire hazards and identify fire protection systems.
You will combat fires in difficult and dangerous environments (e.g., small passages, small compartments, confined or unventilated areas, fuel tanks or gun mounts).

Qualifications
FOR GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Operating specialized firefighting equipment to control or extinguish fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents and reacting to releases or potential releases of hazardous materials as part of the initial response to the incident site to protect nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of a release; 5) Appling basic emergency medical techniques, including patient assessment, patient treatment, rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and noninvasive medical procedures; and 6) Driving and Operating various firefighting vehicle/apparatus and support equipment.

FOR GS-06 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Operating specialized firefighting equipment to control or extinguish fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents; and 5) Driving and operating firefighting vehicles: and 6) Operating emergency communications equipment to answer, record, and dispatch fire or specialized crews to routine, urgent, and emergency situations.

****GS-07 Firefighter position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter II, Apparatus Driver-Operator for Pumper, HAZMAT Operations Level, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician, CPR.
****GS-06 Firefighter Position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations Level, Apparatus Driver-Operator for Pumper, CPR.
