About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command, staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 65 military processing locations (Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS)/Remote Processing Stations (RPS)), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services. This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Duties

Perform duties in conjunction with the procurement, receipt, storage, issuance, usage, disposal, redistribution, shipment, accountability, and maintenance of supplies, materials, equipment, and other property. Make open-market purchases and place delivery orders against existing contracts for supplies, equipment, and services within micro-purchase thresholds. Maintain inventory control over contractors' management of owned or leased government-furnished property (GFP). Maintain files on orders, verify delivery of items or services, and review invoices for proper billing charges.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Incumbent must satisfactorily complete pre-employment and annual physical examinations.
  • -Incumbent will be required to complete forklift training within six months of employment.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Assisting the property book officer by performing a variety of technical property book functions; Maintaining supply or property accountability utilizing automated systems, and Ordering equipment or supplies for the organization's operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Management and Logistics. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision MakingInventory ManagementManages and Organizes InformationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). If you are a current, Federal employee, you must include your pay plan, series and grade in your work experience(s) on your resume submission and/or upload supporting documentation (within-grade increase SF50) to show that you meet the time-in-grade requirement. In addition, if your step reflects '00', you must include your current salary for each position.

Education
