As a Quality Assurance Specialist (Aerospace) with the Aircraft Office you will be responsible for utilizing and maintaining aircraft logbooks and records, aircraft qualify assurance inspection of maintenance performed and parts received, auditing aviation support programs, and assisting the Chief of Quality Assurance in executing the NASA aircraft quality assurance program. You will be part of a team of highly skilled aviation specialist supporting NASA flight operations worldwide.
Duties
Manage and review aircraft logbooks and records as well as aircraft maintenance documentation.
Perform aircraft quality assurance inspections of maintenance work performed to include Government Mandated Inspection Points (GMIPs) and inspection of aircraft parts procured to include documentation of findings.
Perform quality assurance audits of contractor aircraft qualify assurance, logistics and maintenance associated programs.
Ensure compliance with NASA aircraft quality assurance standards (Department of Defense and Federal Aviation Administration) and develop new processes and procedures.
Assist NASA management with the execution of the NASA aircraft quality assurance program.
Submit work orders via an electronic logbooks and records system and ensure work order processes are completed accurately.
Develop work packages and work cards to support aircraft maintenance and engineering efforts.
Train new personnel in the usage of electronic aircraft logbooks and records system.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level:
Utilizing an electronic aircraft logbooks and records system, such as NASA Aircraft Management Information System (NAMIS) or similar;
Assisting with quality assurance inspections and audits in an aviation setting to include aircraft maintenance inspections;
Assisting with auditing aircraft support programs such as tool control, hazmat, foreign object debris, parts purchasing, logistics inventory, etc.
