This position, located at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, Medical Administration Service, serves as a Senior Assistant for the Oklahoma City State Home Program.
Duties
Major Duties of this position include but are not limited to...
Responsible for administering State Home benefits to all eligible Veterans.
Ensures that all incomplete forms are returned to the appropriate SVH official for correction within 24 hours of receipt of the form.
Responsible for planning, and administrative coordination (5 homes currently in our area of jurisdiction)
Ensuring accounting accuracy of the census data and all tracking tools are utilized correctly.
Conduct an administrative eligibility review to ensure eligibility requirements have been met.
Responsible for review of funding related to the State Home program and for reviewing fund control points on a regular basis for accuracy.
Researches problem cases and rejected payments often using ingenuity and foresight in their resolution.
Ensures that all reports are prepared for Top Management on the amount spent on State Veteran Home obligations.
Ensures a quality assurance program is developed and maintains program activities.
Responsible for being aware of all possibilities beyond your control where errors in transmittal, calculations, or transporting of figures may have occurred.
Must be able to trace error, resolve the discrepancy, and sometimes only working from printouts.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 4:30pm

GS-07 grade level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: The work requires and extensive and detailed knowledge of agency procedures, policies, directives and processes associated with clerical development of the most difficult cases. Also required is the knowledge of an extensive body of regulations, rules, procedures, and practices to examine applications for eligibility and enrollment. The clerk must have the knowledge to research and review available records and located required documentation from a variety of sources. A thorough knowledge of State Home program and eligibility, enrollment procedures is required in order to provide answers to general inquires on interpersonal communications, including the ability to handle irate clients and answer complex eligibility questions. Proficiency in the purpose and method of input of data using various software applications is required. or;
As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. For this grade level, 1 full year of master's education may be substituted if the education is directly related to the work of the position.
