The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) Directorate for Mission Integration (MI) creates a consistent and holistic view of intelligence from collection to analysis and serves as the Director of National Intelligence's (DNI) principal advisor on all aspects of intelligence. MI integrates mission capabilities, informs enterprise resource and policy decisions, and ensures the delivery of timely, objective, accurate, and relevant intelligence.
Duties
Support the POTUS Briefer and other PDB officers in the preparation and presentation of written and oral briefings to senior internal and external customers on significant intelligence issues.
Perform extensive, in-depth analyses of complex and significant national, regional, and/or global issues for senior policymakers and key components in the Intelligence Community (IC), law enforcement, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
Initiate and maintain effective relationships with colleagues in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and other IC organizations by providing appropriate feedback on written products; interact with IC officials to help shape intelligence questions for follow-on products and gain an in-depth understanding of the policy interests and intelligence needs of IC colleagues.
Anticipate questions and develop responses using provided background information, acquire materials or information furnished via consultations with IC experts, and interact effectively and confidently with the principals to explain, and as necessary, educate them on IC tradecraft and analysis.
Engage principals to frame and elicit clear, appropriate, and meaningful taskings, collaborate with IC components to ensure taskings are well understood and that the principals' needs are clear.
Provide leadership and expert guidance to the planning, analysis, and application of a full-range of methodological tools and approaches to gain a comprehensive understanding of complex analytical issues and incorporate insights and findings into well-crafted, in-depth intelligence products.
Utilize a variety of methodological tools and approaches to gain a comprehensive understanding of complex and significant analytic issues and incorporate insights and findings into well-crafted, sophisticated intelligence products.
Assist in the development and delivery of tailored and insightful intelligence briefings to the US Government's most senior policymakers or intelligence officials on key national security issues.
Participate in PDB corporate activities. Strive to improve processes and practices and engage in creative problem solving. Foster PDB educational efforts in the IC and recruitment by setting up in-depth substantive interactions with analysts, meeting with potential applicants, and attending PDB training and outreach events to share best practices and lessons learned.
Support PDB expeditionary operations by traveling with PDB principals as needed.
Work collaboratively with PDB briefers and principals' staffs.
Be aware of and abide by dissemination restrictions on sensitive intelligence.
Execute and monitor internal and external taskings, ensuring collaboration and coordination on responses; prepare for meetings, briefings, and special events; schedule meetings; prepare read ahead materials; and maintain records of proceedings as required.
Anticipate and research complex topics in support of the POTUS Briefer, prepare detailed background materials, summarize lengthy documents, and highlight key issues.
Review all correspondence/assessments/packages for content, ensuring complete information, background, and references and editing for appropriate format, grammar, and spelling.
Build and leverage diverse collaborative networks within the ODNI and across the IC.
Serve as primary liaison and facilitate effective communications between the designated senior executive and other senior executives, management, and staff, both internal and external to ODNI.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements:
A GS-14 (or exceptionally strong GS-13) with at least 3 years of all-source analytic experience, exceptional critical-thinking and representational skills, experience briefing senior customers, and a broad understanding of US national-security interests.
Demonstrated superior oral and written communication skills.
Extensive knowledge of analytic tradecraft, IC policies, capabilities, and procedures.
Extensive knowledge of key US foreign policy and national security objectives for key regional and transnational issues and ability to stay informed of current trends and developments and ability to work under tight time constraints with multiple daily deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to remain open-minded and change opinions on the basis of new information and requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work under tight time constraints with numerous daily deadlines to review a large body of information and distill relevant products into a comprehensive, sophisticated daily intelligence briefing; and a superior ability to efficiently set priorities, perform multiple tasks, and change focus quickly as demands change in a fast-paced, time constrained environment.
Extensive knowledge and experience exercising sound judgment, tact, and integrity to manage interactions with senior U.S. policymakers and intelligence officers, including a superior ability to establish and maintain regular contacts in the IC for exchanging information.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with superiors, colleagues, and subordinates.
Desired Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in subject matter area, or closely related discipline.
Experience as a PDB Briefer.
Experience as an all-source analyst.
