The Primary Care Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a Registered Professional Nurse who is accountable to the Nurse Manager (NM). While working in partnership with the Nurse Manager, functions as a Supervisor and Clinical Coordinator assuming responsibility for the operation of the designated unit. Primarily stationed at Madison East with some travel as needed to the Beaver Dam Clinic
Duties
Duties include: onsite coverage at designated CBOC(s) per the assigned Northern Tier/Southern Tier, participating in the hiring process, supervising and ongoing evaluation of care delivered by all nursing staff and employees assigned to the CBOC/Annex via Nursing Proficiencies and /or performance appraisals.
The ANM is charged with contributing to the establishment and implementation of evidence-based nursing standard of practice, monitoring the quality of care by means such as 2-day post discharge, including any other primary care related reports, scores, reminders or PACT quality indicators. ANM will also assure all education, competencies and staff orientations process in the unit are complete with consultation with NM. ANM will assist the PI process and keep track of the progress of PI projects, All Employee Survey Results, Press Ganey responses, SHEP scores, VSignals, Hand Hygiene, and MDRO Teaching to ensure quality care to our Veteran Patients. The ANM is accountable to address storage, recall and replacement of medications, including transportation of specimen and medications. Assist with addressing and maintaining building operations in collaboration with Nurse Manager and Clinic Manager as well as the property owner, VA environmental services, and VA engineering services. The ANM will provide oversight of staffing needs, leave request, and payroll. The ANM will provide hands-on clinical support in the nurse PACT roles during times of limited staffing resources. The ANM will facilitate HRO huddles as needed. The ANM will facilitate and or assist with nurse staff meetings. he ANM has the authority to provide verbal and written counseling in collaboration with HR, Union and NM. ANM will need to promote and adhere to the PACT model of care. The ANM will promote, create, demonstrate and ensure a positive, culturally diverse work force in which the values and needs of all individual are respected while enhancing patient care delivery and professional development of Nursing staff. The ANM will manage the CBOC/Annex in the absence of the Nurse Manager.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required.
Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience.
Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelo's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Masters degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience.
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required.
Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree.

Physical Requirements: Walking, bending, stooping, and some lifting in the direct care of patients. There may also be extended periods of sitting.
