This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, District Eleven PACAREA, Sector San Francisco, Prevention Department, Waterways Managment Branch, San Francisco, CA. 

Duties

In this position, the incumbent will be providing direct vessel traffic management services as a Vessel Traffic Control Specialist in a Coast Guard Traffic Center.  He or She is also responsible for promoting the safe and efficient movement of maritime traffic in assigned geographic area.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position requires a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

To Qualify for the GS-11 Grade Level:  Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, or abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience include:  administration of a unit training program; assessing unit and individual training needs and developing a complete training program; addressing audiences in a classroom setting and providing informational briefs and presentations. OR Have successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.  OR A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
