The Tractor Operator is responsible for tools and equipment assigned to the section, ensuring care, maintenance, cleanliness, security and kept in safe working conditions at all times. The incumbent is responsible for preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment and minor repairs of such as directed by supervisor. Incumbent is a member of the snow removal team and is required to dress approximately to the task assigned using government furnished uniforms and clothing.

Duties

Major Duties include but are not limited to: Performs operator maintenance on equipment to assure equipment is properly maintained. Performs preventive maintenance on all grounds equipment to ensure all equipment operates safely and properly with no delays due to lack of proper maintenance. Responsible for safety of himself, other employees, patients, visitors and staff. Employee obeys all safety procedures to prevent the occurrence of accidents. Employee is responsible to assure that all equipment has proper safety equipment, and shields and obeys all safety procedures while operating equipment, such as barricading work areas where required and proper posting of these areas. Cleans and sweeps surfaces to keep them clear of leaves, branches, dirt and all debris. To ensure safe passage of foot traffic, auto, and patient assist devices. Repairs holes in the streets, sidewalks and parking lots to ensure safe passage. Prunes trees and shrubs for health and appearance, to assure low hanging limbs do not present a safety problem. Reports deficiencies found to supervisor in a timely manner. Performs lawn maintenance tasks, such as mowing, trimming, seeding and fertilizing without causing damage to lawns, trees, shrubs, or equipment. Relationships with supervisors, co-workers and others are consistently courteous and cooperative in nature and contributes to the effective operation of the office.
