The Training Management Specialist coordinates with management to plan and develop the fiscal year training calendar. Identifies course type, content, dates, and target audience. Participates in pre-course planning for training events. Works to improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of training. Provides information to trainers regarding delivery methods to improve the effectiveness of the training and maintain the interest of the students.
This position is only open to DOJ employees.
Duties
As a GS-1702-12/13, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Participating in analyzing, designing, and coordinating relevant program materials and tools to support the Civil Division's training programs and enhance learning.
Serving as a liaison to staff providing information about relevant policies, procedures, and requirements for obtaining course credit for presentations.
Monitoring learning events to enable assessment of program effectiveness, discussing potential areas for improvement, and aiding in accurate measurement of training effectiveness and impact.
Serving as the secondary Key System Administrator for learnDOJ. Assisting in dealing with the LMS contractor and JMD personnel who manage the learnDOJ system.
Assisting presenters with incorporating Turning Point audience response software into presentations.
Using the OLE learning management system and other software applications to manage course registrations, enrollment, evaluations, reports, and historical records in assigned program area(s).

Requirements

- You must be a current Federal employee within the Department of Justice on a Competitive Service appointment.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Training Management Specialist, (GS-1702-12/13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.
To qualify for the GS-12 Training Management Specialist position, you must demonstrate that you have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: assisting in formulating ways to improve the training program and it's delivery, assisting in developing program evaluation materials, creating training items and events in the learning management system, keeping the training SharePoint site up-to-date, and providing on-site support for training programs.
To qualify for the GS-13 Training Management Specialist position, you must demonstrate that you have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as: participating in pre-course planning for training events, communicating with staff about available training and resources to enhance the effectiveness of instruction, identifying program and course material strengths and weaknesses and recommending appropriate steps to correct any problems, monitoring learning events to enable assessment of program effectiveness, and creating training items and events in the learning management system.
