This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as a joint education and training advisor and action officer. The work is in direct support of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) and includes Title 10 responsibilities concerning education of the joint force.

Duties

As a JOINT EDUCATION ADVISOR at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Formulates and coordinates the officer and enlisted professional military education policy for the Armed Forces. Develops policy standards for the Department of Defense's (DOD) intermediate-level and senior-level colleges that are synchronized with the JS PME review process and the process for accreditation of joint education. Organizes, leads, and facilitates PME policy working groups to foster collaboration across the DOD, Services, intermediate-level and senior-level colleges, and combatant commands (CCMD), to ensure that PME policy remains current, relevant, and is consistent with Service and joint policy and academic accreditation standards. Coordinates JS responses to education initiatives from across the DOD. Collaborates with education experts within and outside the DOD to ensure that knowledge outcomes are optimally aligned with learning venues that are consistently established and maintained across the learning continuum

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Develops, reviews, and coordinates operational planning, policy, contingency response and deployment execution of joint forces to ensure timely, doctrinally accurate, and effective contingency deployment, training, exercise participation, and war gaming; Adapts numerous Combatant Commands Operational, Functional, and Concept plans to support the plans, operations for DoD force deployment processes and theater contingency operations; Applies knowledge of national security policy, its developmental process, and the interrelationships among the National Security Strategy, National Military Strategy, Optimized Fleet Response Plan, and DoD policy guidance shaping the use of joint forces worldwide to ensure mission objectives; Ensures regulatory compliance of current political-military U.S. National/Regional policies, issues, and as it applies to U.S. National/Regional policy objectives Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
