Duties
Assisting in preparing, evaluating and conducting biological analysis of land and water resource projects.
Working closely with and assisting senior specialist with coordinating and consulting with Tribal, State, special interest groups and other federal agencies.
Serving on interdisciplinary teams where in collaboration with other specialists writes and reviews biological input to environmental assessments, biological assessments, and development of protective stipulations, and resource management plans.
Participating in monitoring wildlife development projects by providing input to interdisciplinary reports, environmental assessments and protective stipulations for threatened and endangered species.

To qualify for the GS-07 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the difficulty and complexity of the next lower grade (GS-05) of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience may include: assisting professionals with wildlife inventories; researching and evaluating wildlife habitat data; and assisting in preparing reports and planning documents.

Education: one (1) year of graduate-level education that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position or Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.)

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled.

Physical Demands: The work is sedentary but may occasionally require some physical exertion such as walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces and exposure to extreme temperatures. The field duties of this position require that the employee operate four-wheel drive vehicles on and off roads in isolated areas.
Work Environment: Work is performed in the office and field locations under a variety of topographic and climatic conditions.

Basic Requirements
Nonresearch positions:
- Degree: biological science that included:
- At least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; and
- At least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects (Excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to meet the zoology requirements where appropriate.); and
- At least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences.
OR
- Combination of education and experience: equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
