The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Element Supervisor with full responsibilities for carrying out the functions of the Element.
Duties
-Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs work activities within the Manufacturing Element. This includes reviewing production data and coordinating with employees through staff meetings and daily contact in order to obtain information necessary to provide input into daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance plans.
- Directly supervises 5 subordinate Aircraft Pneudraulic Mechanics to maintain an even flow of work and fulfill daily requirements. Performs quality verification on portions of tasks while in progress or upon completion to assure quality and quantity of work performed.
-Keeps subordinate employees informed of quality control, suggestions, cost reduction, and a variety of other programs to promote participation and increase efficiency and cut down operating costs. Orients new employees, explains organizational structure, performance standards, safety requirements, and local policies on things such as leave, training, etc.
-Reviews and analyzes production data for problem areas, accomplishes studies of continuing problems and takes or recommends corrective action. Administers an element goals program.
-Tool/Equipment Accountability, Ensures tools/CTK items are properly marked, calibrated (if necessary), and secured when area is unattended.

- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- This position requires Lead/Supervisory duties.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8200, Fluid systems Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular workload requirements.
2. Ability to collect, compile, analyze and correlate production data from a variety of sources.
3. Understands and has extensive knowledge of KC-135, C-5, C-141 and C-17 aircraft pneudraulic systems and maintenance operations, including reparability of components, assemblies, systems and subsystems.
4. Ability to interpret manufacturing terminology, data, standards and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control of projects.
5. Must have the ability to plan and schedule work to achieve maximum utilization of personnel, facilities, and equipment.
6. Must be able to interpret policies, instructions, technical orders, and other guidelines and explain how to do the work. Must be able to communicate with higher echelons, headquarters, and depots. Must be able to direct work as a supervisor.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
