About the Position: This position is with the 377 Theater Sustainment Command, 4 Mission Support Element, 4 Expeditionary Sustainment command located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Develop IT standards, procedures, and guidance. Analyze equipment reliability and recommend IT modifications. Develop and conduct IT training to staff and supported customers. Provide user assistance and helpdesk resolution. Acts as Network Administrator for a local area network. Install hardware and software to computer systems. Resolve technical support issues for Command.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires certification/recertification as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005 (Incorporation Change 4, 10 November 2015).

This position has a basic requirement of successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, a three year graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. OR Related experience that demonstrates each of the four competencies below: (1) Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency in accordance with established standards and procedures. (2) Customer Service: Assists users in resolving technical computer problems and malfunctions. Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers to include individuals at the Headquarters, subordinate units and others outside the organization. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement. Effectively manages customer relationships. (3) Oral Communication: experience briefing individuals and groups on the status of information technology system, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed. Speaks and writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner that is appropriate to the audience. (4) Problem Solving: Identifies and analyzes complex information technology problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; identify and evaluates alternative solutions; makes recommendations. AND This position also requires specialized experience: One year of specialized experience includes installing new or existing personal computer systems or related equipment; monitoring escalated actions and tickets or using standardized troubleshooting protocols; provide desktop support with customer service, user account management, installing and troubleshooting hardware/software; and assisting customers in finding solutions to routine IT issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at, at least, the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCustomer ServiceNetwork ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
