Located in the Veterans Administration (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Healthcare Network (VISN 6), in the Durham VA Healthcare System. This position is physically located within the Greenville Healthcare Center (HCC). The primary purpose of this position is to assess the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of administrative and medical healthcare program activities and operations for services that report to the Assistant Director/HCC Administrator.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicant(s) must meet the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Health System Specialist position. Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: (1) Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; (2) Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and (3) Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. This may also include experience in coordinating implementation of agency programs, analyzing/evaluating methods for assessing program development and the execution for improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency in coordination of health care delivery systems and operations; assisting executive management with administrative problems that arise, providing recommendations for solutions and is a contributor in the decision-making process, knowledge of government contract requirements, and evaluation and management of space, financial, or human resources and assets.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Performance of the employee's duties may require extensive walking per day to meet with the facility managers and other clinic personnel. Trips to satellite outpatient clinics are sometimes necessary and will involve transportation via automotive vehicle. The work performed is of a precise nature requiring long periods of concentration that is often interrupted. Employee is often faced with changing priorities and with meeting deadlines.
